The Journey
After completing my BAMS in 1995 from Government Ayurveda Medical college, Guntur, I was strongly determined to start an Ayurveda Vaidya Shala. In 1975-1976, after lot of struggles, I could start one Ayurveda Vaidya Shala, in a small village in Andhra Pradesh. My confidence was boosted with this experience, and I decided to go for Post-graduation (MD in Kaya Chikitsa) from Government Ayurveda Medical college, Hyderabad (Osmania University). I completed my PG during 1977-1980 and again decided to start an Ayurveda Vaidya Shala in Hyderabad. I was struggling financially and hence asked help from other Ayurveda Vaidya colleagues, but none of them showed interest in practicing Ayurveda.
I somehow arranged Rs.300 in those days and took a room for Rs.100 /month and started Charaka Ayurveda Clinic. Almost after 12 years, I decided to convert this clinic into an Asramam dedicated to serve all needy and poor, irrespective of their financial status. I continued to serve people in nearby slums, orphanages, old age home. by conducting Health Awareness programs on the basis of Swastha Vritta principles, promoting healthy lifestyle by following the 3 pillars of healthy living viz. Ahar, Nidra and Brahmacharya / Vyayam. This was done with an aim to create a disease-free community. While all this was in progress, I was also determined to protect the environment by promoting saving of water, usage of eco-friendly bags, use of cow based organic farming.

Vision
The Journey
I was posted as Scrutinizing Medical officer (1/C) for 7 years in Directorate of Indian Medicine. Nearly 1084 manuscripts of Siddha and Ayurveda were dumped in a room with least care. When I first entered that room, tears started flowing from my eyes seeing the pathetic condition of such valuable treasure of Indian medicine (manuscripts). The very next day I placed a photo of saint Agasthiyar in that manuscript room and started praying for his divine guidance. Something guided me prompting me to take up the digitization of the manuscripts.
I am purely a Clinical person, with no knowledge about digitization. I officially represented for manuscripts digitization to the Director of Indian Medicines. I received a reply stating that the department had no funds allotted for manuscripts. Except for my divine guru, there was no one else to encourage me for the digitization initiative. This was a very expensive affair involving lakhs of rupees.
After a few months, by the grace of saint Agasthiyar, Tamil Virtual Academy, a Department of Tamil Nadu came forward to digitize all the 1084 manuscripts at the cost of Rs.3 Lakhs. The project was totally free on our side and was completed in 2 years. Now all the 1084 manuscripts have been digitized and stored in a small hard disk for future generations. Thanks to saint Agasthiyar for this great miracle.
